About Dr. Mattson

Dr. Kathryn Mattson grew up in beautiful upstate New York in the Catskill Mountains.  Her family are dairy farmers with 300 head of Holsteins.  She studied Chemistry at Binghamton University. Dr. Mattson then obtained a dual degree from New York Chiropractic College with a Masters in Applied Clinical Nutrition and a Doctorate in Chiropractic in 2010.

Dr. Mattson strives to help others in pursuing a preventative and wellness-based life. She believes in growing and raising as much of your own food as possible, respecting and caring for the land and living an active life. Dr. Mattson is happy to see ‘country living’ becoming trendy. There is nothing new about these ideas, except that we are so far removed from how to live in this manner that is has become a huge rediscovery for most people.

She encourages patients to take responsibility for their own health by using your own body’s natural ability to self-heal instead of drugs and surgery. Chiropractors have always strived to achieve health in the most organic way possible through finding the cause of the problem and not by merely masking symptoms.

Dr. Mattson has managed and treated patients through community clinics with chronic disease, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, AML, history of stroke, language and speech barriers, fibromyalgia, arthritis, physical limitations, chronic pain, and histories of domestic violence.

She has experience working with the military through veteran hospitals in upstate NY and is qualified through CSSP to treat post-deployment military members and their families where additional issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, traumatic brain injury, and substance abuse may be common. Dr. Mattson comes from a military family with 2 brothers currently serving in the Air Force.

Dr. Mattson’s ‘chirokatie’ website is used to promote education and find the truth about chiropractic, healthcare, chronic disease, current health trends and nutrition.
